Berry
Dumplings
1 quart of
your favorite berries
1 quart of water
1/2 stick of butter
3/4 cup of sugar
Put the berries and water
into a big pot and cook over
medium heat until the
berries are done.
Stir in the sugar and
butter.
Mix 2 cups of self-rising
flour and 6 tablespoons of
shortening with a fork and
add 2/3 cups of milk.
Mix to form a dough.
Drop by tablespoonfuls into
the boiling berry mixture.
After all of the dumplings
have been dropped into the
berries, cover the pot and
reduce the heat to low and
cook for another 8 to 10
minutes.
Be sure the berry mixture is
boiling and do not stir the
dumplings or they will stick
together.
